About the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

If your baby has been admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), it is because he or she requires more care than the Newborn Nursery can provide. At Memorial Hospital West, we are a Level II NICU, specializing in the latest high-tech equipment and a highly trained staff for the care of your baby.

The NICU has one purpose and that is to take care of sick newborns. We monitor your baby at all times with visual observation as well as with the utilization of special equipment.

The NICU takes care of babies that:

  • Are premature
  • Experience complications at birth
  • Have congenital anomalies
  • Have infections
  • Have low blood sugars

Click on the NICU Caring Staff link to familiarize yourself with the caring people who meet your baby's needs.
