About the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Neonatal ICU

If your baby has been admitted to the Memorial Hospital West Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), it is because he or she requires more care than the Newborn Nursery can provide. At Memorial Hospital West, we are a level II NICU, providing some of the latest high-tech equipment and a highly trained staff for the care of your baby.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has one purpose and that is to take care of sick newborns. We monitor your baby at all times with visual observation, as well as with special equipment.

The NICU takes care of babies who:

  • Are premature
  • Experience complications at birth
  • Have congenital anomalies
  • Have infections
  • Have low blood sugars

Click on the NICU Caring Staff link to familiarize yourself with the caring people who meet your baby's needs.
